Fun During Your Stay at The Green Cottage

There are so many places and things to see and do that are convenient to our vacation rental home. Here are some of our favorites.

Play in Lake Champlain!

Play in the Lake

You'll be steps away from the shore of Lake Champlain. Swim, fish, sail, motorboat, paddleboard, kayak, float...whatever! And if you don't feel like moving a muscle, just watch others playing in the water! We have plenty of comfortable seating at The Green Cottage that will always offer you prime viewing.
Check with us for the equipment you can borrow from us and see our Local Guide page for equipment rental options.
Bike around the Champlain Islands

Bicycle Around the Islands

Bring your own bikes or rent them at Hero's Welcome in North Hero or at Allenholm Farm in South Hero. If you start in South Hero, you will probably want to get on the Island Trail and head towards Burlington. The ride will take you to a bicycle ferry. Bet you didn't know there was even such a thing. If you stick a little closer to Grand Isle, you can find lots of scenic shore roads in Grand Isle and North Hero. Or ride out to Isle La Motte and visit St. Anne's Shrine and Fisk Farm on your trip around that Island town. Check out our Local Guide page for more info.
Ben & Jerry's Factory in Waterbury, VT

Day Trips Galore

Head north to Canada to spend a day at Parc Safari where you'll drive through an animal safari and then play in the water and amusement parks. For shopping, dining and entertainment, spend the day in Montréal.
In Vermont, take a fall foliage tour through Stowe and ride the gondola up the mountain. Visit Cold Hollow Cider Mill and watch an apple pressing session. You won't want to miss a Ben & Jerry's Factory tour too. Expend some energy by hiking to the summit of Mt. Mansfield! Check out our Local Guide page for more info.
Free Summer Concert

Free Concerts

Snow Farm Vineyard in South Hero hosts a summer concert series every Thursday night. Bring a picnic or enjoy food prepared by the on-site vendors. The vineyard sells wine by the glass or the bottle. Plus they also have several beer choices! Snow Farm hosts a winter series too. On a less regular basis, you'll find free concerts at Knight Point State Park Tuesday nights in July and August. Sometimes you can even hear the music at The Green Cottage! We share the same Lake Champlain bay with the Park.
Festivals

Spectacular Annual Events

You'll find beer festivals, jazz festivals, food festivals, craft festivals, dragon boat festivals, art festivals around the Champlain Islands and in Burlington every year. You'll find similar festivals in Stowe and Montréal along with hot air balloon festivals. Every winter the Champlain Islands celebrates Great Ice! In April you'll find the Maple Festival in St. Albans, Vermont. Find links to these events on our Local Guide pages. Plus keep up with our The Green Cottage on Lake Champlain VT Facebook Page to learn about upcoming events.
